Jean Rosenthal (1908-1969) is credited as the first visual communicator that conveyed the narrative and emotion of a stage play through the use of light.She defined and advanced the discipline of lighting design. Considering the importance of lighting design in art, interior design, photography and theatre, I wanted to celebrate Rosenthal as an unsung hero. My response to Jean Rosenthal has been inspired by the themes that Rosenthal frequently wrote about:Collaboration, Respect, Conflict, Simplicity and Lighting Air. This project pays tribute to Rosenthal and reminds the audience of her achievements. From the light installation, I designed 5 poster prints and 5 digital moving image posters.
